Advisory Council on African American Affairs

Advancing the ways in which Arizona State University supports the aspirations and successes of our community.

Welcome

The Advisory Council on African American Affairs is composed of faculty, staff, and students working to develop, implement and evaluate solutions in service to the Black and African American members of our campus communities.

The ways in which we take action include developing and recommending efforts to recruit, retain, and ensure undifferentiated outcomes; while promoting the university’s historical engagements with the Black and African American community within the greater Phoenix metropolitan area.

We welcome thoughts and ideas from those whom share a value for these commitments.

Stay Connected

We invite the interest and support of our community whom share our commitment to the success and growth of faculty, staff and students. Stay connected as we provide news and updates, and assess ideas and inquiries along the way.

Our History

In Fall 2020, President Michael Crow announced 25 starting actions known as the LIFT Initiative, which is committed to meaningful change in the fight for equity and social transformation at ASU and beyond. An action that is central to the implementation of the initiative was the establishment of an Advisory Council.

Our work is undertaken with the goal of enhancing diversity, growth and opportunity for Black learners and professionals while expanding the academic offerings, community support and collaboration to the benefit of all underrepresented individuals.
