Committee for Campus Inclusion

Catalyst Awards

Awardees holding their awards placed in gold and turquoise circles. We are excited to recognize and support exemplary individuals, groups and programs who, through their work, are catalyzing a comprehensive approach to inclusive excellence.

Since 1996, the Committee for Campus Inclusion Catalyst Award has honored individuals, groups, teams, clubs, organizations/units, and programs that have catalyzed change by fostering and promoting inclusive excellence.

In 2021, the inaugural Stanlie James Legacy Award was introduced in celebration of the exemplary career and contributions of Stanlie James during her time within the Committee, her role as Vice Provost and beyond. This award will recognize the third recipient who demonstrates significant achievement in one or more areas of community engagement, cross-collaboration to solve societal challenges, and the promotion of social justice and inclusion.

In 2023, the Committee for Campus Inclusion introduced grants to support ASU projects, programs, and events that are aligned with the mission and objectives of our committee, facilitating an inclusive environment through education and outreach, scholarship and practice, strategies and solutions.

Rules and recommendations

  • Nomination statements should be detailed, fully developed, and include specific examples. The Catalyst Award Subcommittee may not be familiar with your nominee or their contributions, therefore, it is important that this information is presented in the nomination statement.
  • It is recommended that nominators prepare their nomination statements to the noted questions in advance on a Word document and then paste their responses into the online form. This will allow the opportunity to make any necessary edits. Only completed nomination will be considered.
  • Representatives serving on the Committee for Campus Inclusion (CCI) are eligible to be nominated for an award. However, appointed members of the CCI executive subcommittee are not eligible to be nominated for an award.
  • Supporting documentation may be requested for final nominees. Nominees may be contacted by the CCI with a request for additional information.
  • A CCI Award is a one-time honor; therefore, previous Award recipients are ineligible to receive the same award a second time.
  • Award categories are utilized for evaluation purposes only. The number of honors awarded each year will be determined by the executive subcommittee. As such, multiple awards may be given in across one category. The executive subcommittee also reserves the right to not award in all categories.
