It's time to embark on a STEM fellowship

Have you ever imagined yourself presenting original research at a national science conference?

This is your chance.

The Embark Fellowship

The Embark fellowship provides undergraduate science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) students with faculty mentorship, writing support, and research presentation preparation to develop a poster session for the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) conference to be held in Phoenix, Oct. 31–Nov. 2, 2024.

Eligibility requirements

Students from any STEM major who have conducted at least one semester of scientific research are encouraged to apply. They must be able to attend program sessions on either the ASU Tempe or West Valley campuses. Requirements for the program are a 3.0 GPA, sophomore standing or higher, completion of at least one semester of science research under a faculty mentor, and ability to attend the in-person meetings, including the SACNAS poster session. Students must apply by May 20.

About the Embark fellowship

Embark is a cross-campus initiative coordinated by the Office of Inclusive Excellence, in collaboration with faculty from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences on the Tempe campus and New College on the West Valley campus.

The fellowship will start the week of Aug. 12 and conclude the week of Nov. 4. This is a hybrid fellowship and students will be meeting remotely and in-person with faculty mentors once every two weeks on Thursday evenings. Students who complete the fellowship and present at SACNAS will receive a $2,500 stipend and have their SACNAS registration covered.

Applications are now closed.
